Masterclass 2011
All these projects can be adapted to make different items (such as bracelets and earrings, or only a section utilised) if you so choose.
Klimt's Collar - The "Golden Period" of Gustav Klimt's paintings are known the world over for their sumptuous gilded and multi-coloured ornamentation. My necklace in homage to Klimt contains luscious beading and embellishment with beads and Swarovski Crystals. (Due to the use of best quality finish beads there will be a surcharge of £10 for this class)
Jensen's Necklace - Georg Jensen (Danish Silversmith) designed iconic jewellery in the early twentieth century, with a strong bias towards solid silver rhythmic flowing shapes interspersed with semi precious cabochons - his jewellery was a melding of two styles: The stylised minimalism of Scandinavian Design meeting the uninhibited decoration of Art Nouveau. My necklace in homage to this great Designer relies on shape rather than colour, with repetitive motifs caught periodically in exquisite Swarovski Opal stones.
Slipped Discs - This is the perfect opportunity to have fun beading lots of different discs in a lively and wide colour palette: fat or thin, big or small, filled or empty. Build a collection to play with or make this necklace with its unusual front fastening and lovely snake rope. (NB your supplied bead pack will contain less Rivolis than the photo to keep costs down. You may of course purchase more if you wish.)
Dahlia Pendant/Brooch - I've been having such fun working with the Swarovski Rivolis, and devising different surrounds for them. This one has lots of petals with freeform shading, and makes a fabulous brooch or the pendant centrepiece for this pretty lacy necklace complete with tiny floral motifs.
Josephine's Collar - The focus of this dramatic necklace is a large oval bezeled Swarovski Rivoli encased in a deep beaded frame, and the beading contains small and subtle colour changes, counterpointing the boldness of the design. This medallion hangs from chain links of alternating rectangles and circles which are caught into a wide, soft silk ribbon, which is very comfortable to wear.
Mosaic Cuff - More fun discs! Here incorporating different sized squares as well. Pick a colour palette and play! Then fit them all together into a pleasing arrangement for a bracelet cuff. (NB your supplied bead pack will contain less Rivolis than the photo to keep costs down. You may of course purchase more if you wish.)
Gaudi's Medal - Inspired by a recent trip to Barcelona, this dainty pendant necklace juxtaposes abstract angles with the soft curve of nature. This medal makes for rewarding beading!
