The Bead Merchant Links
These are the addresses of some sites I really like, that are full of inspiration; and obviously top of the list is www.beadworkersguild.org.uk: if you want to get more involved in beading then joining The Beadworkers Guild is a must - it will keep you informed, help you to meet other beaders, and give you inspiration and encouragement.
Then I would recommend some lovely magazines which you can buy at various outlets - or you can go online now to sites such as the American magazines www.beadandbutton.com; and www.interweave.com (Beadwork); but for the magazine Ornament - which is a stunning treat - you will have to buy a copy in Borders (if you have one near you) as I don't think they have a website.
There are also some Australian magazines that have occasional articles on beading and other decorative textile arts and are quite inspirational: www.bellearmoire.com; and www.countrybumpkin.com.au (a magazine called Inspirations that is truly gorgeous);
Of course our own British magazines www.selvedge.org and www.embroiderersguild.com/embroidery as well as www.beadmagazine.co.uk are also a great source of ideas (if you are new to the beading world you may like to subscribe to Bead as so far I have only found it in W.H.Smith and it flies off the shelf really fast!)
For textile supplies my favourites for threads are www.stef-francis.co.uk and www.kateskloths.co.uk and especially Oliver Twists (who strangely don't have a website but can be emailed at ). Or you could go straight to www.thetextiledirectory.com for the most comprehensive listing of textile contacts and information. |
